It has been widely reported that a neurosurgeon hired by a VA Hospital had many malpractice claims against him in other States based on claims that his actions caused patients to suffer personal injuries, paralysis and in some cases death. The subject treatment was to a patient’s bladder, bowel, spine and required the placement of spinal screws. Despite knowing about his troubled past the VA hired him anyway. The VA hiring a doctor with a checkered past is not uncommon. It has been widely reported that the VA hired a psychiatrist who had been accused of sexual misconduct and a psychologist with felony convictions.
