Attorney Lia Washington

Lia Washington is a trailblazer in the legal field and one of the few Hmong-speaking personal injury lawyers in the United States, bringing a unique and vital perspective to the fight for justice. Her passion for advocacy and her deep connection to underrepresented communities drive her commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has a fair chance to hold negligent parties accountable through the legal system.

Like many people in the United States, nothing was handed to Lia Washington. Every step of her journey required relentless effort, perseverance, and an unshakable belief in the promise of a better future. Born in a refugee camp in Thailand, Lia faced hardships that many can scarcely imagine. Yet, through grit and determination, she carved out opportunities for herself, ultimately immigrating to the United States to pursue her dreams.

Despite facing the additional hurdles of adjusting to a new country and culture, she excelled academically, graduating from college on a full scholarship.  Lia didn’t stop there—she earned an MBA, completed a law degree, and passed the bar, achieving what once seemed impossible. Her life embodies the quintessential immigrant story of triumph over adversity, and she brings that same dedication and drive to everything she does.  Lia’s experiences give her a unique understanding of the struggles faced by others, making her a fierce and empathetic advocate for those seeking justice.  Her philosophy is simple yet profound: work hard, do the right thing and hold tightly to every opportunity life presents.  Lia Washington’s career reflects her unwavering commitment to protecting and empowering others.

As part of her remarkable journey, Lia Washington was hired by the United States Federal Reserve, where she played a key role in safeguarding everyday Americans from unethical banking practices. The Federal Reserve (often called the Fed) is the central banking system of the United States. It was established in 1913 to create a safer, more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system. The Federal Reserve plays a crucial role in the U.S. economy and financial system through its various functions.  Lia’s work focused on overseeing and regulating banks and other financial institutions across the United States to ensure they operate ethically and soundly and protecting everyday individuals and families by enforcing banking laws and ensuring fair treatment.

Whether standing up to powerful corporations or navigating complex legal battles, Lia is relentless in her pursuit of justice for her clients.

Throughout her career, Lia has dedicated herself to championing the rights of injured workers, many of whom have been overlooked or dismissed by large corporations that failed in their basic duty to provide a safe working environment. She understands the immense challenges these individuals face—physically, emotionally, and financially—and works tirelessly to help them rebuild their lives. Her unwavering dedication and strategic legal expertise have enabled her team to recover millions of dollars on behalf of injured workers and their families, providing them with the resources they need to move forward.

As a proud Hmong-speaking attorney, Lia serves as a bridge for a community often marginalized in the legal system. Her ability to communicate in Hmong allows her to connect deeply with clients, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and understood during what is often one of the most challenging times in their lives. Lia’s empathetic approach, combined with her sharp legal acumen, has earned her a reputation as a compassionate advocate and formidable opponent in the courtroom.

Lia is not just a lawyer but also a fierce advocate for workplace safety, fairness, and justice. She believes that every worker deserves to return home safely at the end of the day, and she has made it her mission to hold corporations accountable when they prioritize profits over people. Her dedication extends beyond individual cases; Lia actively supports initiatives that promote worker safety and community empowerment, embodying her commitment to making a lasting impact.

Her work is more than a career—it’s a calling. Lia Washington represents the intersection of legal excellence, cultural advocacy, and unwavering determination to ensure that justice is accessible to all, regardless of language, background, or circumstance.
