It has been reported that meat processing plants across the United States have been suspending operations due to coronavirus outbreaks among their workers. In Pennsylvania, four meat plants have recently closed: Cargill in Hazleton, JBS Beef in Souderton, CTI Foods in King of Prussia and Empire Kosher Poutry in Mifflintown.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) released a joint guidance to keep meat and poultry plant workers safe.
The guidance touches on spacing workers 6 feet apart at workstations and processing lines, cleaning and disinfecting, social distancing, wearing face masks, training workers on how to reduce spread of COVID-19 and screening and managing workers.
